Running gets a bad rap

Run yourself into the ground. Run ragged. Running doesn't get included in the happy sayings, it's always in the negative ones. And I totally get why. I started training for the 10K I'm running, and it was killing me at first. Trying to find the time to run during busy season is not an easy task. It has converted me to getting up early to run before work, because inevitably I will work too late to run. Every time. So the only way to get around it is to get my ass out of bed early and run before work. Which is not an easy thing to adjust to! But it is coming along nicely. I ran outside for the first time this season, and aside from a blister it wasn't bad. My legs are a bit stiff, but I wasn't overly tired or spent after the run, and my breathing seemed fine throughout. All that fear that was getting me to run before is finally paying off. Now that it's warm out I'm going to try to keep running outside. Well, it's not so much warm as free of ice finally. It's the ice that keeps me on the treadmill.

I've been trying to keep on top of some of my other goals too. Running on the treadmill meant going to the gym, so I did a little bit of catch up there. Not where I should be yet, but closer. I'm guessing though that I won't be going to the gym much while I'm training, all my energy will be going to running. I'm slowly getting to a more respectable place with my goals. I read a few more books, knit some squares, did some colouring, and a whole lot of free rice. But it seems like the next while will be crazy busy with work, so everything might be put on hold so that I can get enough sleep to function. I'm trying to keep it to only one day on the weekend, leaving me a day to unwind and relax. But I don't know how long that will last! I've been so drained for the past while that I haven't been turning on my computer after work - hence the no posting. I'm going to have to play some more catch up. Maybe a lot more catch up.
