I seem to have lost it. Free time that is, not my mind. I still have that tucked away somewhere for safekeeping. I'll pull it out and dust it off in the spring when I am released from busy season hours. Work at my new job has definitely been different than my old one. And a lot more hours. My extra hours were all due to one client though, so I'm hoping that is not the norm. From what other people are saying, I am correct in this hope. I basically had a job explode on me and suck up all my time for two weeks. I worked the hours for three normal work weeks, and then some, in two weeks.
Working so much kind of screwed me over for training for my 1st race, and the snow didn't exactly help either. I could have dealt with the snow on its own though, by going back and running inside until it warmed up again and things melted. But I was just so tired from working so much that I chose extra time sleeping over getting up and running. Which was probably better for me mentally. Not so much physically. I now have three weeks left to get ready for my 10k, and I'm hoping to get back into a training schedule after this week. Leaving me only two weeks to get back into shape. I may die. At least the course is mainly downhill.
This week is all about climbing! The CN Tower climb is on Saturday, so I'm going to be working on my climbing muscles this week. I started last week, and it's not so bad. I am well over my fundraising goal, all that is left is making it to the top of the stairs without any major catastrophes. I'd also like a semi-respectable time, if possible. What that means, I don't know. I'm having trouble deciding what I will consider respectable. One part of me thinks that I should be able to be under 20 minutes, and another part of me is trying to be reasonable since I really have not been seriously training to climb. Yes, I've been running (but not often, as mentioned before). Climbing uses some different muscles than running, and those muscles are not exactly in the best shape right now. I am beginning to think that something in the 20-25 range would be respectable, but am also considering 25-30. I just don't know. My final decision might depend on how I do!
I was hoping to get to at least 50% done my goals by the end of April, but now I don't know if I'll hit that mark. After the CN Tower climb and the 10K (technically May 1st, but whatever) I will have 2 more done for a total of 33. Based on progress in other goals that puts me at about 47% done. The amount of hours I will work in April will have a big factor on whether or not I will be able to do anything to bring that up to 50%. At least I'm now tracking my progress better and trying to stay on top of goals. May will be the month for playing catch up and enjoying warmer weather with shorter work hours. I'm mostly looking forward to shorter work hours.
