May was supposed to be easier with the end of tax season! Sadly, not so much. Although this time it wasn't because of work, it was me trying to catch up on all the things that I didn't have time for in the months leading up to it. I am now finally starting to have some free time, and feeling like I'm getting back on top of the small life things that tend to get pushed aside. I filed all of the mail that I'd been collecting over the past two months a few nights ago and it felt so good to get those loose papers put away. It's all the little things like that that were getting pushed aside. But then they built up to a big thing which seemed a bit daunting to deal with. I've now broken it back down into little, manageable pieces.
I ran my 10K and climbed the CN Tower! I'm happy with my time for both. Neither was as hard as I thought they would be, but both had a lot more waiting around waiting for them to start than I was anticipating. Especially the climb. People kept telling me to get there early, but I underestimated how early they all meant. From the time I arrived to the time I started the climb, an hour and a half went by. Apparently I arrived with a big rush of people. I will know for next time.
The 10K had a lot of waiting too, but that was because I had to get there early enough to get through coat check. It left for the finish line before the race started. Then I had to wait for my corral's turn to start. The actual waiting was not a problem, the only problem was that it was pretty chilly out that morning. I was very glad that I had worn capri's and not shorts - the people in shorts looked quite miserable while they were waiting. The race itself was good, especially since the course is mainly downhill. I had been worried about how in shape I really was because I didn't get to run much in the last two weeks leading up to it. I think I need to sign up for more races to keep myself motivated to run and stay in shape! I also need to start getting back to the gym again . . . and doing the rest of the goals . . . maybe June will be the month for me?
